I have always thought that the world is more beautiful on Christmas. Our hearts are softer and our words are kinder. It's a magical time of year.
This journal features watercolor artworks that embody the magical spirit of Christmas for me. My comments to the artist are below each artwork. All of these works have less than 50 favorites at the time I created this journal. I think that both the artists and artworks deserve more love and recognition.
A Christmas bunny! How cute and clever! I love the sweet pose and muted colors of this work. This image made an emotional impact on me because I once had a rabbit that I adored named Jody.
The color palette on this artwork was a pleasant and refreshing surprise when I first saw it. I really liked the fluidity of the overlapping colors and the "think-outside-of-the-box" approach to the colors of this evergreen tree. Lovely work!
This sweet image is a marriage of pure gracefulness and whimsy! I love the way the soft curved lines of the antlers mimic the soft curved lines of this reindeer's body. Masterfully done!
Look at that expression! An immediate smile danced across my face. I love the lighthearted, fun vibe of this work. The angle of the otter in this image is a fun perspective too. It reminds me of an otter's inquisitiveness and playfulness... much like a child's inquisitiveness and playfulness on Christmas morning.
Christmas can sometimes be a peaceful, reflective time for many of us. This image gave me that gift during these challenging times. I first noticed the "floating" candle, which made this artwork seem magical to me. The pop of red color and large white flowers on this young lady's dress were details that elevated this image to something extra special.
The facial expression on this koala bear added a human element that tugged at my heart. I was reminded of the Australian fires and the heartache I felt when so many of these gentle creatures perished. One of my holiday wishes for 2021 -- the hope for a speedy recovery of the koala bears and their habitat.
This robin is such an endearing little bird! When I think of birds, I think of songbirds and their lovely songs. Seeing this image was like hearing my favorite Christmas song again. I love the blast of orange on this robin's breast too!
Christmas isn't Christmas without a poinsettia in the house! This colorful watercolor surely captures the essence of the holiday season! The harmony between the colors and the shapes make this work stand out to me. Stunning art!
Joyful and cheerful. Those were the emotions that came to mind when I saw this artwork of forest friends gathering together. Sharing the holiday season with family and friends, however, will be different this year for many of us due to the COVID pandemic. Please stay safe.
I never expected to see a Christmas giraffe! I love the element of surprise here... much like Christmas morning magic when children discover Santa's gifts under the tree. Very interesting holiday image and creative imagination!
I really liked the limited color palette on this particular image. The composition is simple but creative, which makes the three colors go beautifully together. Those red splatters were a nice touch and added visual interest too . Cool play on words... pandy cane. You have done more with less, and that is not an easy thing to do!
After seeing this image, I couldn't stop singing The Twelve Days of Christmas song lyrics, "...and a partridge in a pear tree." Look at those bright and lively colors! They are exquisite. This amazing work really put me in the Christmas spirit.
This is my entry in Artistle's December 2020 challenge:
Carving pumpkins for Halloween brings back fond childhood memories for me. My carvings were quite simple back then, but many artists on DeviantArt have evolved this seasonal craft into an exquisite artform. This journal features some of my favorite carved pumpkins with personality... which I affectionately call "pumpkinality."
Enjoy!
I hope you enjoyed this pumpkin feature!

Hi everyone!
My name is Glenda, and I am a fractalist. I think about fractals during the day, and I dream about fractals at night. Unfortunately, works of art in the niche fractal categories are often overlooked by many people on DeviantArt. For those people who are unfamiliar with this type of art, I hope you find this journal stimulates your curiosity to learn more about the different fractal-generating programs.
It seems that everyone loves the color blue, and some of the most beautiful fractal images are predominantly blue. Shown below are some of those beauties from my favorites that many of you may have missed. These artists are incredibly talented, so please visit or revisit their galleries for more inspiration.
DeviantArt celebrated its 20th birthday in August. To celebrate this milestone, DeviantLounge is having its very first contest. This journal feature is my entry.
